My daughter was born screaming and continued to do so for 18mths, she was constantly vomiting, she never slept for more than 20mins at a time.

I was so depressed that I seriously considered walking away from it all on more than one occassion. The difference is that my DD had medical problems that the HV and Docters didnt pick up, it took months of pushing to get help.

The woman obviously had unresolved problems from her own childhood, she hadnt learnt some kind of parenting.

We cannot all get it right - I have 8 children and by no means an expert and I certainly didnt learn parenting skills from my own very cold hearted mother.

I think also that her DH is from a different less hands on generation which must have been a shock to them both, when in this day and age both parents are suposed to be 'there' and have 'parenting' skills.

I think they all learnt alot - and I think that any parent who hasnt reached that "god Im so fed up with you" with their child is a saint.

I have been privilaged to have been invited to watch parenting classes on a very run down area of Lincoln - many of the parents and myself learnt much.

There are some very bad parents out there, and they dont ask for help, this couple obviously realised they had problems - ok they thought it was only their daughter rather than them that needed help. They asked for help and they got it, they are a slightly better family for it, seeing them with a teen daughter may be a very different issue.
